Welcome to the 2024/25 season

Mission Statement:

In conjunction with Hockey Canada, BC Hockey and South Delta Minor Hockey’s commitment to “Fun, fair play for all”, the officials of South Delta Minor Hockey are dedicated to ensuring that the sport of hockey is both “safe” and “fair”.

  • The past two seasons we have increased the number of new officials into the program as we aim to replenish the pool of young officials we lost over the pandemic. Going forward we anticipate bringing on approximately 15 officials each season so we can get those new officials on the ice and work with our more senior officials for development.

Certification for new officials will take place September 14.

All new officials will need to complete the ONLINE HOCKEY UNIVERSITY for OFFICIALS course prior to attending the in-person clinic.

Stay tuned for an application process as we head into the 2024/25 season.

    • All officials under 16 years of age will recertify as a level 1 official. BC Hockey is hosting a number of SUPER CLINICS

    • Click here to access the 2024 clinics

    • Officials 16 years of age or older will recertify as a level 2 official.

    • Officials 18 years of age or older prior to December 31st will need to complete a criminal record check.

    • Criminal record checks are valid for 3 years. You can see your current CRC status in your Hockey Canada Registry.

  • All game assignments are done electronically through SPORDLE PLAY

Steps to successfully set up your Spordle Play settings:

    1. Once logged in click on availability

    2. Click on Settings at the bottom of the calendar

    3. Select the associations or zones where you want to officiate. Click Save.

    4. Select the arenas you want to officiate (South Delta Rec, Ladner Leisure, Tilbury etc.). Click Save.

  • 1: Click on AVAILABILITY (bottom left side of screen) and use the calendar to open up windows of availability. The assignor will see this.

2: Click on GAMES (left side of the screen) and you will see the games that you are eligible to officiate at the venues you have said you want to officiate.

3: Click on the CLIPBOARD on the right of the game and you can request to REFEREE or LINESPERSON.

4: The Assignor will then ‘assign’ the game and you as the official need to go back in and accept the assignment.
